King III workshop: Pitfalls and challenges for good corporate governance

On 6 August 2009, the second in a series of workshops on the King III proposals and the application of Alternative risk solutions in risk management was held at Erinvale Estate in Somerset West.

In his presentation, Mr Tenk Loubser emphasized the role of ethical leadership in business and the responsibility that every business leader has in modelling ‘unashamedly ethical’ practices to peers and employees.

André Ferreira, director of Alternative Risk Solutions, gave an introduction to the unique and valuable benefits that self-insurance can add to risk management practices in business. He made it clear that a mind-shift was required to move from the current conventional insurance system to a solution which provides control over risks and which channels funds back to businesses.

The evening proved to be such a success that Exceed was requested to host similar workshops in future.

Workshops on King III - May 2009

In May, a workshop was held in Bellville to discuss the challenges and opportunities presented by the proposed King III Code of Governance Principles. Organised by Exceed Alternative Risk Solutions and presented by Tenk Loubser, it was so successful that a similar workshop will be held in Somerset West.

At the same event, André Ferreira explained the unique benefits of alternatives to conventional short term insurance. Participants were particularly interested in cost-effective ways of protecting a business against risks.

The next workshop will be offered on 6 August 2009 in Somerset West.
